TRUE BLUE smurfmouse, otherwise known as YUE. Has a thing for the blue nose friends :)
8th DEC is the day. Was from NTU CBC & an ITS lab rat. DBSK.BIG BANG.2NE1.SUJU.SNSD.2PM.RUNNING MAN are hearts.
It's another super super hot day in HK. All of us were super exhausted and "burnt" after the day out.I was more excited to get back onto the tour bus with the blasting air con than to walk around and tour. The sun in HK is really no joke!
On our way to the Big Buddha
Vegetarian Lunch at the Big Buddha
The vegetarian lunch served tasted better than the lunch we had on our school tour last Saturday. And according to Mummy, people go there for the vegetarian food, and apparently it is supposed to be good. It was good. We were served a pretty sumptous meal, especially when our table had 7 people and the food served was for 12 pax. We sat together with 3 other fellow NTU students. It's funny that we're supposed to be on exchange but we bump into NTU students really often. I'm not complaining though.
Big Bell in Po Lin Monastery
Po Lin Monastery is known as the "Buddhist Kingdom in the South", it ranks first as the most magnificent structures amongst 4 popular Buddhist temples in Hong Kong.
Big Buddha before the smurfs.
The Big Buddha
It is the world's tallest, outdoor seated BRONZE Buddha which sits serenly atop Ngong Ping plateau amid the spectacular mountain scenery of Lantau Island. The majestic figure of the seated Buddha is 34m high, was cast in China and took 10 years to complete. It weigh 250 tonnes, and was unveiled in 1993 amid deeply religious ceremonies. Visitors can climb 268 steps to reach the platform where the Buddha is seated.
First half of our 268 steps under the HOT HOT sun.
Almost reaching the top of the steps.
View of the cable car from the top of the steps.
Ngong Ping Village
Tai O (Oriental Venice) By the time we reached Tai O, the sun was still hitting us hard, and we didnt have the energy to explore the community.
Exhibits
Tai O market, where there's dried seafood, locally produced shrimp paste and salted fish.
Settled down for a cold bowl of 豆花. We had to add honey to it ourselves, and it felt great to have something cold in such a HOT weather.
Look at the super cute panda umbrella!
Overall, the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery was a good experience especially for Buddhist like me. Prayed for the welfare of my family. Tai O is a place where I don't think I will go back to when I come back to Hong Kong.
